Customer Reviews
An early 20th century large oval planter of golden yellow brass resting on two cast feet manufactured by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) of Geislingen, Germany for export to France, dating circa 1910. The sturdy antique planter is an impressive 16.5 inches long from handle to handle with a warm golden patina, a planished surface, and its original pierced metal insert The outer vessel has two pierced handles terminating in a Glasgow rose motif that repeats in a garland of low-relief roses over a Secessionist style band of squares encircling the lower body. Marked on the base with WMF's so-called "bee-hive" mark enclosing an ostrich over the letter "G". The company introduced this mark in 1909 at the request of French customs authorities for goods imported to France. The planter is in very good condition with some discoloration inside; the inner lining tray is intact with corrosion and oxidation from decades of age and use. The piece measures 16.5 in. L x 7 in. W x 4.25 in. H.
