Customer Reviews
An American Art Deco vase by Rookwood Pottery designer, William Hentschel (1892-1962), for Kenton Hills Porcelains dating to the early 1940s.
The vintage vase features a sunny glaze of
Mandarin Yellow o
ver a white porcelain body. The Hentschel decor scheme consists of an Art Deco antelope motif over a band of triangles (or pyramids) designed from simple lines and dots encircling the lower part of the vessel.
The vintage vase is in very good condition, measuring 6.25 in. H. Impressed marks underfoot include the Kenton Hills Lotus mark, William Hentschel's monogram and shape number 134.
Kenton Hills Porcelains, Inc. operated for a short time between 1940 and 1943 in Erlanger, Kentucky. The firm was founded and staffed by potters, chemists, and decorators—including William Ernst Hentschel—who were former employees of Rookwood Pottery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Decorative objects by Kenton Hills were sold through high-end U.S. retailers, including Tiffany & Co., Georg Jensen, Marshall Field's, and Nieman-Marcus.
