A set of four midcentury sterling silver candleholders from Gorham Manufacturing Company of Providence, Rhode Island. Gorham produced this Minimalist design in the 1950s for a line of modern silver hollowware called "Trend" and these stackable candleholders are illustrated in Jewel Stern's Modernism in American Silver, 20th century Design, page 221. The round silver candleholders have concentric ridges on their bases allowing them to stack securely on top of one another to create any desired configuration. The design is reinforced with cement for a substantial and study feel. All in very good condition with a few minor nicks, scuffs and shallow scratches, measuring 2 in. height x 3.25 in diameter (at base), 3.25 in diameter (at top). Each marked GORHAM/ STERLING / CEMENT REINFORCED / 829 on the base; two bear their original Gorham Sterling foil labels.
