A complete set of four Mid-Century Modern enameled tazzas (a shallow dish with a short foot) in silver plate from Towle Silversmiths of Newburyport, Massachusetts, designed, circa 1955. The pieces are illustrated as a set in Jewel Stern's publication, Modernism in American silver, 20th century design, page 273.

The upper surfaces are enameled, the first in metallic bronze over a design of looping lines, the second in dark maroon red over a sunburst pattern of wavy lines, the third in deep blue over stars, and the fourth in dark gold over a pattern of cigar-shapes. All four designs are encircled by a black enamel border around the outer rim.

The pieces are substantial and all in good condition. There are no cracks or chips to the enamelwork but there are shallow scattered scuffs or scratches overall in keeping with age and use. Each tazza measures 7.5 inches W x 1.5 inches H. and bears the Towle Silversmiths mark underfoot, with either EP 5004, EP 5005, EP 5006, or EP 5007.
