A signed French art pottery vase with a metallic luster glaze from the Montieres workshop, dating circa 1920s. The French faience Art Nouveau vase is decorated with an overall green, purple, and dark maroon iridescent glaze. Hand-painted flowers and swirling stems create a garland encircling the shoulder in a complimentary golden copper luster, with a glazed “Montieres” mark on one side. Very good condition with crazing, grinding chips on the foot rim, and scattered glaze pops, measuring 4.5 in. height x 5 in. at widest point. Montières was established in 1917 in the Picardy region of Northern France, outside of Amiens. The workshop operated until 1933, specializing in enamel and luster glazes. Their use of metallic luster glazes owes a debt to Clément Massier's reflets métalliques (metallic reflections) glazes developed at Golfe-Juan during the late 19th and early 20th century.
