A pair of Art Deco veined flambe cabinet vases from Royal Doulton of England, dating circa 1930s. The small art pottery vessels are perfectly sized to accompany an individual place setting or a breakfast tray. Each vase is enveloped in a glossy dark red glaze with highlights of black, dark indigo blue and fiery tendrils of golden orange-yellow. Each vase is in very good condition measuring 4.25 in. height x 2.63 in. diameter (at widest) and each bears a printed Royal Doulton factory crown and lion mark over FLAMBE / VEINED / 1606 underfoot.
Doulton's chief designer, Charles Noke (1858-1941) used metallic oxides to create these high-fired, ornamental glazes in sophisticated patterns and color combinations unique to every piece.
