Customer Reviews
A Rookwood Pottery buttressed vase with a peacock feather motif repeating three times around the vessel. The American art pottery vase is a substantial production piece covered in a velvety blue matte glaze and date marked 1921. Very good condition, measuring 9.13 in. height x 4 in. diameter (at widest), with Rookwood's RP flame trademark, XXI [1921] / 2417 [form number] impressed on the base.
Maria Longworth Nichols (1849-1932) founded Rookwood Pottery in 1880 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rookwood quickly became America's pre-eminent art pottery, winning a number of prestigious awards including a gold medal at the Universal Exposition in Paris in 1889.
