An elegant Art Deco compote or tazza pair designed by Jean E. Puiforcat (1897-1945) in the 1930s for renowned French silversmiths, Puiforcat of Paris; the firm produced this stylish form for several decades during the 20th century. The silver plated Art Deco design resembles an oversized chalice cup on a stepped base with a contrasting column stem of blue (imitating lapis lazuli hardstone) and gilt enamel supporting a smooth flaring bowl. The pair makes a striking accent for a mantel (fireplace), console, or dining table.

Of substantial weight and in very good condition, each tazza measures 7.13 in diameter x 5.25 in height. Stamped Puiforcat France underfoot with the company's pocket knife mark flanked by EP (for Émile Puiforcat, co-founder of the company) inside a square signifying plated silver. One tazza is stamped with the EP mark under the rim.
