Customer Reviews
A large Art Deco compote designed by Jean E. Puiforcat (1897-1945) in the 1930s for renowned silversmiths Puiforcat of Paris; the firm produced the form for several decades during the 20th century. The piece resembles an oversized chalice, resting atop an elegant stepped base with a contrasting column stem of blue and gilt imitation lapis lazuli hard-stone, supporting a smooth flaring silver plate bowl.
The compote is of substantial weight and in very good condition, measuring 7.13 in diameter x 5.25 in height. Stamped Puiforcat France underfoot with the company's pocket knife mark flanked by EP (for Émile Puiforcat, co-founder of the company) inside a square signifying plated silver.
