An iconic Mid-Century Modern American coffee pot designed by master silversmith John Prip (1922-2009) for Reed & Barton of Taunton, Massachusetts in 1961. The "Dimension" coffee pot in silver-plate has a sculptural, teardrop shape and looped handle wrapped in black vinyl resembling rattan. The modernist design is illustrated as part of a larger service in Jewel Stern's publication, Modernism in American Silver: 20th century Design, on pages 242 and 250.

Very good condition with a few shallow surface scuffs and polishing marks, measuring 8.5 in. H x 9.5 in. W (handle to spout), with Reed & Barton / 1500 / DIMENSION stamped on base.

The full Dimension tea and coffee service is in the collection of the Dallas Museum of art and on display at the RISD Museum, where John Prip was a faculty member from 1963-1980.
