An early 20th century French art pottery vase date marked for 1906. The antique vase from the Sarreguemines factory is shaped like an architectural column or pillar on a round pedestal base and decorated in a bright, bold majolica glaze of glossy green, with semi-matte blue and metallic gold highlights. Although the vase was produced in 1906, the strong, sculptural design anticipates both Art Deco and the Egyptian Revival styles.

Sarreguemines began to date their work at the end of the 19th century, specifying the year and the month; this vase is marked 03 / 06 for March, 1906. Very good condition with crazing, a few shallow scuffs/scratches, and a small nick on the inside of one rib, measuring 11.75 in. height x 5 inches diameter (at base). The vase bears the following impressed marks on the base: SARREGUEMINES / L / 3691 [form number] / 227 / 06 / 3.

The Sarreguemines factory was founded in France in 1790.
