Description
Customer Reviews
A pair of glazed faience cabinet vases with contrasting mounts of ormolu in the French Neo-Classical style, designed by Paul Jean Milet (1870-1950) for Paul Milet Pottery at Sèvres, France, circa 1915.
Decorated with a sophisticated stippled glaze of poudré blue with gilt bronze mounts at the base and rim, measuring 2.25 in. W x 7.75 in. H.
Very good condition with some minor wear to gilding and a slight dip in one rim, each marked underfoot with the early Atelier Milet printed mark consisting of MP above Sevres within a dotted circle, used prior to 1930.
The Milet Pottery at Sevres was the product of a dynasty of ceramic artists beginning with Paul Milet's father, Felix Optat Milet. Paul Milet was eventually succeeded by his son, Henri Milet.
