A midcentury Raymor vase designed by Alvino Bagni for Bagni Ceramiche of Italy, dating circa 1960s. The sculptural Italian Modern art pottery vessel is wheel thrown and features a pierced upper rim over a collar of applied cog-like projections and a fluted, flaring body. The autumnal glaze ranges from a bold burnt orange at the mouth to lighter shades of golden brown accented with a drip glaze of a darker chocolate brown. The interior's drip glaze of translucent orange and brown over green transforms to blue.

The vase is substantial and in very good condition measuring 7 in. height x 5.5 in. diameter (at widest). The vessel bears a black "Italy" mark impressed on the foot rim and an original Raymor paper label with handwritten notations 1708 and BAG (for Bagni).

Alvino Bagni was born in Italy in 1919. He became a successful ceramicist and designer, opening his own workshop studio called Bagni Ceramiche on the outskirts of Florence. The studio produced high-quality, artisanal ceramics for their collaborations with Bitossi Ceramiche, Raymor, and Rosenthal.
