A small and stylish Art Deco vase of glazed earthenware designed by Walther Stock (active 1910-1925) for Velten Vordam (1913/14-1931) of Germany, circa 1920s. This vase form and several similar Scott designs for Velten Vordamm are represented in the collections of the Smithsonian's Cooper Hewitt Design Museum.

The art pottery vessel is glazed white and decorated with an overall pattern of black over white with black bands at the rim and foot; the interior and base are also glazed black. The vase measures 2.88 in. H x 5.13 in. diameter (at widest) and is clearly marked Vordam / Germany / M/5 on base. Very good condition with some crazing around the foot rim and several small glaze pops inherent to the firing process.

Steingut-Fabriken Velten-Vordamm was located outside of Berlin in Germany. A number of the company's employees made important artistic contributions gained through their associations with artistic organizations including the Deutscher Werkbund and the Bauhaus School.
