An antique snuff or pill box in gilt metal with guilloche enamel decoration in green, black, and white. The hinged box of elliptical form is raised by a simple thumb piece. The lid is decorated with a field of dark green enamel over an engine-turned pattern edged by scalloped bands of black and white enamelwork. The outer edges of the box feature a band of the same green enameling with white borders and gilt metal accents. The interior retains the original satin gold finish, as does the base. The box would make a lovely decorative ornament for a desk, nightstand, or vanity. Although apparently unmarked, the Edwardian-style box is in very good overall condition with a few shallow surface scratches and some wear to the gilt surfaces, particularly on the base. The box measures 2.25 in. L x 2 in. W x 0.63 in. height.
