An antique French gilt bronze dresser or vanity box of circular form with an inset hand-painted enamel portrait miniature of a woman in profile. The Limoges-style portrait plaque is encircled by a bronze doré laurel leaf border framed by four applied embellishments of c-scrolls and flowers. The 19th century Second Empire / Napoleon III hinged box is lined with its original dark olive green velvet, has working hinges, and snaps closed securely.

Very good condition with some spots of verdigris and darkening of the gilt finish around the applied elements, measuring 4 in. diameter x 1.75 in. height.

During the 19th century, travelers in France purchased these keepsake boxes and jewelry caskets as souvenirs of their Grand Tour.
