Description
Customer Reviews
An antique pair of Louis XV style andirons or chenets in heavy cast bronze or brass from the late 19th century. The ornate Rococo style design features acanthus leaf motifs and the exuberant and asymmetrical curves, counter-curves, and undulations characteristic of fire and French Louis XV design.
The sculptural andirons (sometimes called firedogs) are in good condition with an aged patina and spots or areas of verdigris and original gilding visible on both front and back. Each has an iron support attached to the back with an adjustable and removable screw. The pieces are unmarked and measure 13.13 in. H x 8.75 in. W x 7.5 in. D.
