Customer Reviews
A monumental Art Nouveau Amphora Pottery vase, ca. 1901-02, from Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel (RStK) of Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia (Austria), today the Teplice region of the Czech Republic.
Hard earthenware with a yellowish body and "Confetti" decoration with thick threads in relief buttressing the form on four sides and encircling the upper rim. Underglaze painting in matte cobalt with large, crackling spots of light green, rose and ochre frits. Matte gilding accents the areas in relief.
Impressed marks underfoot: AMPHORA [in an oval] / AUSTRIA [in an oval] / 3729.
Very good condition, no chips or repair, with very small areas of wear to gilding, measuring 18.5 in. (47 cm) H.
Richard L. Scott pictures a slightly smaller example of the same vase (model no. 3732) in Ceramics from The House of Amphora, 1890-1915, pg. 173, fig. 280.
