Customer Reviews
A vintage Rookwood Pottery production vase made in 1920. The American Arts and Crafts vessel has a matte glaze of dark mustard yellow enveloping molded Greek Key decoration with swirling lines reaching up to the rim.
Very good condition, measuring 5.88 in. H x 2.75 in. dia. (at widest), with Rookwood's RP flame trademark, XX [1920] / 2135 [form number] impressed on the base.
Maria Longworth Nichols (1849-1932) founded Rookwood Pottery in 1880 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rookwood quickly became America's pre-eminent art pottery, winning a number of prestigious awards including the Grand Prix at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris.
