A pair of vintage Rookwood Pottery production candle holders made in 1923. The American Arts & Crafts candlesticks are shaped like fluted columns with a dark golden yellow matte glaze.
Each in very good condition, measuring 5.75 in. H x 3.75 in. Dia. (at the base). Each bear Rookwood's RP flame trademark, XXIII [1923] / 2199 [form number] impressed on the base.
Maria Longworth Nichols (1849-1932) founded Rookwood Pottery in 1880 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rookwood quickly became America's pre-eminent art pottery, winning a number of prestigious awards including the Grand Prix at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris.
