In 1903, Alphonse Cytere set up an art studio in Rambervillers, France, near the artistic center of Nancy, producing ceramics with unusual and iridescent glazes on organic forms. Rambervillers became famous for these unique pieces with superb luster glazes, designed by the prestigious artists of the Ecole de Nancy, including Galle, Majorelle, Gruber, Schneider, Vallin, and Vautrin. Cytere died in 1941, taking his glaze manufacturing secrets to the grave.
