In 1903, Alphonse Cytere set up an art studio on Rambervillers in France, near the artistic center of Nancy, producing ceramics with unusual and iridescent luster glazes. Rambervillers became famous for their unique metallic glazes designed by artists of the Ecole de Nancy, including Galle, Majorelle, Schneider, Vallin, and Vautrin. Cytere died in 1941 taking his glaze chemistry secrets to the grave.
