A Mid-Century Op-Art vase designed by Martin Freyer (1909-1975) for Rosenthal porcelain of Germany in the late 1960s. The vase, named Alma-Ata, features a modern, brutalist design in crisp relief against a matte exterior. The interior is finished with a high-gloss glaze. 

Very good condition with full printed factory marks on base under impressed form numbers 2990/20, measuring 7.75 in. H x 4.25 in. W. 

Hans Martin Freyer designed the Volkswagen logo in 1937 and went on to work as a stage, art, graphic, and industrial designer. He worked as a freelance designer for Porzellanmanufaktur Rosenthal from 1964-1974.
