An exquisite Art Deco vase in dark green porcelain from Hutschenreuther of Selb, Bavaria, decorated with a heavy overlay of pure silver. The vase is tall, measuring 13.5 in. H, and in excellent, undamaged condition, dating to the late 1930s / early 1940s.

This large vintage vase is expertly decorated with a contrasting stepped overlay of heavy pure silver, terminating in bands at the mouth and foot. The silver overlay is likely the work of Friedrich Wilhem Spahr's workshop, Spahr & Co./Silberbelegwaren-Fabrik of Germany. The lower silver band is stamped 1000 indicating pure silver (a mark used by Spahr) and the green printed factory mark underfoot was used by Hutschenreuther porcelain from 1939-1964.

The Hutschenreuther porcelain manufactory was established by Carolus Magus Hutschenreuther in 1814. A son named Lorenz opened an independent factory in the town of Selb in 1857.
